A Timely Quote:

"They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety,
deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Ben Franklin, 1759

Tonight, I read in the news that the FDIC is warning banks
that the federal deposit insurance fund might go broke this year.
That does it!
I've had it!
I'm taking all three of my dollars out of the bank!
I guess it was good news to learn that President Obama
is going to let us keep $13 extra dollars a week.
Wow. That's enough money to change
my whole life!
Such a windfall deserves a great deal of time and planning.
You don't just go out and carelessly spend that kind of money.
The new president is counting on
me to spend my money wisely.
I won't let him down!
But what should I buy?
Maybe I could get 5 gallons of gas...be still my heart.
But then again, $13 could also buy 3 gallons of milk.
You can probably see what a dilemma this is for me!
I keep coming back to the big question:
What does Obama want me to do?
I sure don't want to disappoint him.
Thirteen dollars!
Now I realize that some of you may have a difficult time wrapping your brain
around a massive figure like this, I mean, we just can't fathom such a number.
To help you out, here is a breakdown:
It's 130 dimes,
260 nickels,
and 1300 pennies.
The amount is overwhelming,
but can American taxpayers put it to use?
Well, we did earn it, so "Yes, we can!"

In the midst of this economic turmoil was a top news headline announcing
that Esquire Magazine has deemed Prince Charles the best dressed man in the world,
beating out our own king here in the United States.
How dare they insult us in this way!
Prince Charles is an older man who has had many years to grow into his ears.
Give the competition some time...he will do the same.
There is more to being king than simply dressing up.
You have to
inspire the people's love and devotion.
You might begin by giving a gift...
thirteen dollars would be a nice start.

To readers who are Democrats:
sorry for letting out my wascally wepublican side...

Hmmm....I thought I might be finished writing, but maybe I'm not.

I have not yet begun to rant!

Looking at this economic bailout, stimulus...whatever they are calling it,
(I suggest we call it "The Great Loan from China" since that is what it really is)
I am very concerned that there are many senators who are acting like it is free money.
Dear President Obama,
Did you forget me?
I'm one of the taxpayers. I am the one who will be paying it back.
Please eliminate the earmarks that greedy senators have included.
That massive amount of money is
not a windfall...
It's a loan that I and my children and their children will groan under.

Did you forget me?

I, too, sing America.
I am the conservative capitalist
They over-tax my paycheck when it arrives.
But I still laugh, and work hard
and listen to Rush Limbaugh.

Tomorrow,
I'll be at my job
while Congress borrows against my next check
But I'll keep working,
Though they  raise my taxes
Again.

And the next day,
I'll be at my job
Working for America,
The America I knew
The America who is still great,
yet struggling
within.

And the next day,
I'll be at my job
working to support the lazy,
and those who tax and spend,
setting policies in this great land;
they forget me...
the American with the wallet.

I, too, sing America.

"I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means.
I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty,
but leading or driving them out of it.
In my youth I travelled much, and I observed in different countries,
that the more public provisions were made for the poor,
the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer.
And, on the contrary, the less was done for them,
the more they did for themselves, and became richer." -- Ben Franklin, 1766
