On the topic of promising to write every week...
Really, uhhh...if you look at my true intent, you will realize that I never made an actual promise. That just may have been your perception when I said that I promised. Pay careful attention to my scripted words and you'll see that I am...uhhh...lying...uhhh...and it is not something that I said. But I will acknowledge that this has been an unprecedented break from writing. Don't be so quick to blame me, just because I run this website. Let me remind you that the former administration wrote nothing for you. While I haven't actually...uhhh...written anything yet, I believe that I will indeed be nominated for the unprecedented honor of a Pulitzer Prize for what I may indeed write. Any words that have not been written are the direct result of people who have tried to thwart my goal of writing...and there are many of these people. But...uhhh...I had hoped to write a novel, or at least a weekly article...uhhh. Yeah.
I hope this clears up any confusion.
On the topic of looking like someone else...
I have a question for you...what do you do when you run into someone who appears to know you, but you don't remember them? Yesterday, there was a guy in the grocery store who saw me, ran up and gave me a hug, and proceeded to tell me what he had been doing in the time since he believed he'd last seen me. I hesitantly played along, thinking that maybe I did know him from somewhere. As he talked, it was clear that I did not know our "mutual friends" he was referring to. It was too deep into the conversation to ask if I knew him and from where, too late to say that perhaps he had mistaken me for someone else...and that's why I just played along with it. Besides, at this point, I was interested in the conversation. When he said that his parents were going to invite some homeless person to live with them, I said that it came as no surprise to me, that his parents had always been the most giving people I have known.
I used all available clues to infer information as I became more involved in our conversation. When he said that he hoped to move his relationship to a deeper level with some woman, I said, "Absolutely! And this comes as no surprise to me...I've always thought you two would be perfect for each other. You've known each other forever!" When he said that one of our friends was being unkind to his girlfriend, I reminded him that we had always noticed this tendency in our friend, so it really came as no surprise to us. I confess that it was fun seeing how far I could stretch it. At the end of the conversation, he said that I had made him feel so much better about all his problems, and that this came as no surprise to him. Apparently, I have always had the ability to help him put his life into perspective.

Go ahead and gripe about anything you want...I'm not listening.
On the topic of work...
I'm not working full time anymore, having handed in my resignation 2 months ago due to hearing loss. We all know that the economy is bad, and especially so for those in the field of education. However, even in the face of such obstacles, you hold out some hope...and perhaps this is why you could have blown me over with a feather when I learned that there was absolutely no need for a half-deaf, high school English teacher. Apparently, the teacher has to listen to the kids talk and blah, blah blah...they said something else, but I guess I wasn't listening. Honestly,
I think that listening to others talk is pretty boring, unless you are in the grocery store learning fascinating things about the life of a complete stranger. If you are ever in such a position, I suggest that you should feign great interest, if only for your own amusement. So, I have a mishmash of odd jobs, and all part-time, as it appears that the B.A. in English is pretty useless. I'm in school again, earning my master's degree. Doesn't feel like I will ever get done, but I am happy to say that the last two months have given me some true insight about my financial habits. This epiphany came from a number of sources: John Wayne, Joe's underwear drawer, and thoughts about time travel. How I managed to bring these random thoughts together and make sense of them is rather complicated.
I'll fill you in later.
Have a great week, and I'll see you at the fair!
