| On Tuesday, I was reading the Daily News interviews with the candidates for Superior Court Judge, Office Two. Reading the responses, I liked what William Murphy had to say. My dad knows him and so I asked for an introduction. After a friendly handshake and some conversation, I was impressed by Will's pleasant nature. After reading his website, I was impressed by his broad range of legal experience. His business card states, "Experience and temperament count." Will says, "Being a judge is not an entry level position. Judging at the pinnacle of a successful legal career brings to the bench the benefit of extensive experience and perspective gained over time." Background Info on Will... Will worked in his family's tire business, putting himself through college and law school, and after practicing law in the Bay Area, he brought his family and law practice to Corning in 1983. The rural values of this small town echoed the family values with which he was raised, and he and his wife Susan have passed these values on to their three children. Will Murphy offers voters 31 years of experience as an attorney and 23 years of experience as a public servant, and County Counsel since 2003. He has given independent legal advice since 1986 to public officers in highly charged political situations, but without regard to political consequences. Will made a decision to not seek any endorsements, believing that Tehama County voters choose to do their own research, and make up their own minds about candidates. That said, here is a link to his website to read more: www.WilliamMurphy4judge.com "Long and varied experience is something real, a real life journey toward judicial temperament and perspective that voters can see and consider. Tehama County deserves a judge who will take the bench not only experienced and ready to work but also free from any perception of affiliation or loyalty." ~Will Murphy I was happy to have had the opportunity to meet Will. While most of the information I wanted to know could be found on his website, there are some things that you can only learn by shaking a person's hand. Will left me with the belief that he is very genuine. For him, being our judge is not a stepping stone to another career. It's an opportunity to serve our community, just as he has already been doing for the past 23 years. This was a bit of fun, so I may be meeting up with other candidates in local races. We'll see who wants to talk to me. Contact Me www.redbluffismytown.com |
