Here is the back view of Daisy's Barbie Brand Toothpaste.
She has written: "Daisy Only. OK."
Daisy is 7 years old and is very particular about some things.
She says she doesn't want anyone's toothbrush touching her
toothpaste. "People don't wash their toothbrushes out.
People don't wipe the toothpaste off the top of the cap when they're done."
I thought it was nice how she didn't single any of us out, she just said
"People." Well, we the people leave her toothpaste alone.

I wrote about this a few weeks ago.
We all have something we obsess over.

I don't want anyone to touch my bottled water.
If someone does, I cringe...and I won't drink from it.
I used to obsess about many other things, but life with Joe has
helped me to lighten up.
I remember a time, before I had children, that I had decorative angel knick-knacks on the coffee
table during the Christmas season. I had arranged them perfectly, then sprinkled fake glittery
snow over the top of the table. It looked really nice and I was pleased with my efforts.
Enter Joe.
Eyes gleaming, he sat down on the couch and stared at the display. Finally, with the studied look
of a chess player, he reached down and moved one angel about two inches from where I had
placed it...and then he looked at me and waited. "It bothers you, doesn't it?"
I admitted that it did...big, big mistake! From then on, every time I walked by the coffee table,
I saw that the angels were in different places.
Sometimes they looked to be marching in a parade. Other times they were in
a circle or even laying down. I was relieved when Christmas was over and I was done with them.
Besides Joe, I have found that having three kids will also knock the perfectionism out of you.

My kids seem to have inherited some of my quirky traits.

Linda Jo likes to vacuum the floor and see lines in the carpet. Then she tells us not to walk on
them. "That's not practical," I tell her. "There are 5 people in this house!"
She insists we use the hallway to avoid the living room altogether.
It's a good thing we have hardwood floors, not carpet, in the hallway!

Jonah...well, he is like Joe.
He doesn't have any perfectionist quirks except that when he sees lines on the living room
carpet, he likes to roll on them. When Linda Jo isn't looking, he will lie on the floor
and flap his arms and legs in an attempt to make a perfect carpet angel.
Such is the nature of sibling rivalry!

Did you know that there are over 140 little secret treasure stashes hidden all over Red Bluff?
If you'd like to spend the day doing something fun with your kids or grandkids,
I suggest geocaching.
My nephew Calvin is a geocaching enthusiast and his excitement is contagious.
If you haven't heard of it, here's some info...
Someone hides a cannister or some kind of treasure container somewhere and then plots the
coordinates of the treasure with a GPS. Those who search do not need a GPS although this gives
an advantage. You can learn more on the Geocache website. Click here.
Here are some pics of a Red Bluff search, done before we had a GPS.
Nothing truly valuable is hidden, but it's always
interesting to see what's there. If you see something
you want in the treasure stash, you may trade.
Most people just leave some little token.
You'll also see a list of who else has found the
treasure. Add your name to the list!

So many of us complain about how technology
keeps children indoors. This is a fun way to get kids
out of the house...and let them be kids.
Jonah and Daisy love searching for treasure.
I'll have Calvin add some more info here later this weekend since he's the pro.
If you want more details on how you can get set up in geocaching, check back on Monday.

We will be at the fair on Saturday!

See you there =)
