Madame Ruby has been at the Tehama County Fair ever since I can remember.

Hypnotist Kerry Sharp put dozens
of Red Bluff residents to sleep over
the weekend.  Some rested in their
chairs while others sprawled
comfortably on the stage.
Hundreds of people watched the
Saturday night show where I took
pictures of these volunteers.
These girls were dismayed to find their
shoes talking to them.
Unfortunately, some of the shoes
were not kind.  "They're making fun of
me!" complained one girl.
Yet another pair of sneakers  complained
that its owner had stinky feet.
When the shoes became snakes,
it was every man for himself.
Most volunteers wanted off the stage.
Here, the volunteers had
special glasses and could see
whatever they wanted.
Kerry asked, "What do you see?"
One man said, "Everyone in the
front row is naked...and that guy
right there needs to shave!"
This picture is really blurry, but I just had to include it.
The volunteers were given a small piece of paper and
told that it was an ice cube.  Most of them licked the
paper, but this guy just played with it and rubbed it
over both sides of his chest.  He was totally oblivious
to the crowd.
Fortunately, the hypnotist diverted his
attention by making another suggestion.  You know,
hypnosis doesn't make people do anything that's out
of character.  Hmmm....
Staying out late at the fair, we had to use some
caution.  You put a beer in the hand of some
people
and they just turn into an animal.
Actually, I wondered if it was illegal to give
alcohol to endangered animals and then I
remembered...
this is Red Bluff!  We'll kill it, eat it,
and send it to the taxidermist.
What was I thinking?

Personally, I have no desire to be hypnotized.  I like to be in complete control.
The only way I would take part in this kind of thing is if I could be the one giving  orders.
You are getting sleepy, very sleepy...
