Oh the things you can think! Oh the things you can do! You can think up a car in the old Samson Slough.
Friday, March 2nd, is the birthday of beloved children's author, Dr. Seuss. I LOVE Dr. Seuss! When I was giving birth, under the influence of whatever was coming in through the IV, my family tells me I was quoting Dr. Seuss' book, "I Wish That I Had Duck Feet." I do have a vague recollection of telling my doctor, "You can splash around in duck feet, you don't have to keep them dry..." So, it's not hard to believe. They say our brain is like a computer. I think we must have a lot of useless information stored up there, but Dr. Seuss is timeless and always valuable. |

Then what you can do is think up a chair... And think of more stuff while you're sitting out there.

Think of a mattress, dumped by the road, by one of the rednecks from his humble abode.

You can think about hubcaps displayed with affection. There in Red Bluff, they've the largest collection.
Think of the children without any trees, so they're scorched by the sun. Oh, pity them, please!
Send this page to another Dr. Seuss fan!

Think about potholes, how they jolt and they jar. They rattle your teeth and damage your car.

From here to there and there to here more than just mattresses start to appear. No matter what you may think of the town of Red Bluff, You have to admit they've the strangest of stuff.
What you may not know is that Dr. Seuss actually visited Red Bluff at one time and wrote a short book during his stay. Later, he changed the words and made a bestseller. However, here are some excerpts of the original version which are only available on this website... Here you go!

In this photo, my sister is reading a Dr. Seuss book to me. I'm about 3 years old. The best part of these books is that a kid could memorize them and pretend to read, flipping the pages at the right time. Ahh...what great memories...
