Have you heard the latest Red Bluff news?
Christmas displays with religious content are not allowed in county
offices. It was also wondered if Santa, too, should be banned as a
religious symbol, he having been St. Nicholas.
A county official on last night's news said that this absence
of religious reference would make everyone more "comfortable."
What???
I guess I don't really care about the comfort of others,
because I don't choose to extend a "non-specific winter-break greeting."
I say without apology:
Merry Christmas!
Christmas is about the birth of Christ.
Jesus is the reason for the season.
If we take him out, we have a season with no reason.
Doing things for no reason...it spills into other decisions as well.
Read my thoughts below.
Forward this page to your friends and email contacts if you wish.
Everyone in Red Bluff should be aware of what's going on.
Wouldn't it be cool if every yard in town sported a manger?
Just a thought...
Twas the Night Before Jesus' Birthday...
Twas the night before Christmas
and all through Red Bluff,
there was nary a manger
in the holiday stuff.
Here in Red Bluff,
we refrain from the litigious
and that would include
decor that's religious.
To make everyone "comfortable"
were the words that they said
as I thought of the baby
with just hay for his bed.
We celebrate a Christmas
that is comfortable to all
banning religious reference
in our inclusive protocol.
Without any meaning
to this holiday clatter,
I can't help but wonder
what is really the matter.
They don't want the baby,
They call him a fable.
They remove him from sight
along with his stable.
To ease their discomfort,
should we do as they say
and just keep him out
from the season display?
Remove the nativity.
Don't give any grief.
Be politically correct.
Don't push your belief.
Get rid of the manger,
just push it aside
and think of the comfort
for others' yuletide
The world's greatest gift
is highly contentioned.
Angels and shepherds
will not be mentioned.
That this baby grew up
just to die on a cross?
Not a comfortable thought
so his manger we toss.
He was born to the world
in the winter nightfall
while angels brought tidings...
yes, of comfort for all
He was willing to sleep
in an animal stable
but he hasn't a place
at our holiday table.
His famous birth story
does not grace a shelf
and I cried when I noticed,
in spite of myself.
The presence of Jesus
made a few locals pout.
There seemed no other choice
but to just push him out.
But I heard his small whisper
as he slipped out of sight
"I came as a gift
on that cold winter night."
