From the desk of Dr. Luke
Family Therapist

CASE
Patient's name is Mary.  She is a 16 year old girl of Jewish descent.  She was
brought in by her parents and accompanied by boyfriend, Joe.
Family's concerns for the patient began when she began having vivid dreams about
an angel telling her she would give birth to the son of God.  Mary then stated that
she knew in advance that her elderly aunt, Elizabeth, was also pregnant.
This kind of grandiose thinking may be hereditary, as the aunt apparently confirmed
Mary's delusion and indeed claimed that her own baby seemed to respond
to the child Mary is carrying.  Mary is a quiet girl and doesn't speak much.
Clearly, she is processing all of this in her heart.
She seems calm, ruling out any type of mania.   Joe claims he is not the father.
However, it seems he is prepared to overlook the mysterious paternity of the baby
and raise it as his own.  The two plan to get married soon.
The only obstacle to settling down is a large tax bill which must be paid.

Some follow up visits are recommended.
Mary said something strange, I haven't determined the meaning.
I told her to not worry about the tax bill or whether people would accept the
child.  I told her to just focus on the baby, that her baby was a light in a dark world.
She gave me a strange look and said,
"A light...
if you only knew."

Merry Christmas!
If it had happened today, perhaps...
Star light,
Star bright,
A billion Christmas lights tonight.
I wish I may
I wish I might
have the highest PG&E bill in Red Bluff.

Or, maybe you're just wishing you could afford to pay that PG&E  bill.
Thanks to those who are willing to deck the halls, the trees, the bushes, the
fence posts, and the walkway and then drag out some reindeer, santa, Frosty, a
manger, and even a lighted Christmas goose.  You have more energy than I do.
I look at your yard and I think, yes, it's nice, but what a pain to pack
all that up on New Year's Day.  I guess I'm lazy.
However, I really like looking at
your efforts.
It's our family tradition to get some hot chocolate and drive around
and look at the decorated homes.  We rate them on a scale of 1-10.
The one above scored a 10 because it had music synchronized with the lights.
That's something new.  It also had
lots of lights, which my kids really like.

..........

In the meantime, I was thinking about the Christmas story and
wondering how things might be different had Christ been born
this year...
